1. Andy Murray
In 2012, Murray became the first British person to appear in a Wimbledon final since 1938. He lost, rather soundly, but at least he made it to a championship. That's really good for a British athlete.
2. David Beckham
Beckham is one of the most famous athletes in the world. He is also considered by many to be one of the most overrated soccer players in the world. However, he did prove some doubters wrong in 2011 with the Los Angeles Galaxy by winning an MLS title — no less than the 14th or 15th most prestigious professional soccer league championship in the whole world.
3. Lennox Lewis
Lewis won a gold medal in boxing and was the WBC heavyweight champion. He identified more as Canadian, but the British will take what they can get.
4. Eddie The Eagle
Eddie "The Eagle" Edwards was a British ski jumper at the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary. He was best known for his ridiculous appearance and hilarious crashes. But he also probably landed a few jumps if you go back and review the tapes.
5. some cricket guy
England invented cricket, right? So the British have probably had some good cricketeers. Probably not recently, but maybe a long time ago.
6. Sporty Spice
Throughout the mid-1990s, Sporty Spice was known the world over as the most sporty British person. Her reign was brief, but undeniably sporty.
7. Mr. Bean
Being a physical comedian requires a certain level of athleticism. Well, assuming he wasn't just always falling down due to his natural British clumsiness.
8. Robin Hood
While not officially a sport, stealing from the rich and giving to the poor combines several Olympic sports: archery, dressage, horse riding, even boxing. If Robin Hood was a real person, he might have been the greatest British athlete ever.

There's probably another cricket guy who was good at some point.
10. Queen Elizabeth II
Queens are chosen by God himself. So if you don't think Queen Elizabeth is a kickass athlete, then you are doubting God. The Queen probably has mad hops. Look for her to win multiple medals at the London Olympics.
