News Flyers to Reconsider Strategy of Pulling Goalie for Final 59 Minutes of Playoff Games

"It may be time for us to reconsider our goalie philosophy," says Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren.

Holmgren's admission comes after yet another Philadelphia postseason has been done in by cheap goals from the opponent, a Flyers tradition dating back decades.

"We have long believed that the most aggressive team will win in the playoffs," said Holmgren. "That's why we always pull the goalie for the final 59 or so minutes of play. And while our players have performed well under that pressure, the better teams are able to capitalize on the open net."

Flyers head coach Peter Laviolette says he is open to the idea.

"Our guys work hard to prevent shots or block them," he said. "I'm sure it would really give them a boost if every shot the other team gets off doesn't always find its way into the back of the net."

News Creepy Sedin Twins Wear Matching Outfits Again at Hockey Game

Daniel and Henrik Sedin are the top scorers and team leaders on the Vancouver Canucks. Yet those inside and outside the organization say they are getting increasingly creeped out by the twins.

"I will admit that, like most people, identical twins kind of weird me out," said Canucks head coach Alain Vigneault. "It's not natural. But at least I can handle being around the kind of twins who don't try to be exactly the same in every way. Unfortunately, the Sedins are not those kind of twins."

Daniel and Henrik are known to dress in the same blue, white and green hockey uniform. They have similar hairstyles and facial hair. They hang out together. They are both heterosexual. And, perhaps weirdest of all, the twins have their own special language, which they call "Swedish."

"It's incredibly creepy," said Canucks goalie Roberto Luongo. "Most guys in this locker room, you yell out their name and they turn around. But with them? If you yell out 'Sedin!' they both turn around. Weirdos. I'm glad I'm a goalie and they're forwards so I don't have to interact with them too much."

News Game 6 Played in Distinct Game 5 Atmosphere

"You could feel it in the building the minute you walked in," said one reporter who covered Game 6 of the Canadiens-Bruins series. "Game 5 atmosphere. Unmistakable Game 5 atmosphere."

The Canadiens won Game 6 to tie the series, but even the players in the arena say they noticed a distinct Game 5 atmosphere.

"We were talking about it on the bench throughout the whole game," said Montreal wing Mike Cammalleri. "It felt very Game 5-y. A few guys felt it had a Game 4 atmosphere at the beginning and one of my teammates, who shall remain nameless, said it felt like a Game 8. But he was hungover. Eventually we all agreed that it was a Game 5 atmosphere."

Bruins defenseman Zdeno Chara agreed.

"You can recognize a Game 6 atmosphere right away, what with all of its Game 6-like attributes," he said. "And this game didn't have it. It had more intensity than a Game 4, but for some reason the atmospheric conditions were not up to a Game 6 level and definitely not a Game 7 level."
