Paul made his selection as he does all of his picks, by stopping by a bar in his neighborhood and giving his pick to his bookie, who manages the bar.
The 5-foot-9, 247-pound Paul gained notoriety earlier this year by correctly picking the winners of all three Triple Crown races and the Westminster Dog Show, so his Puppy Bowl pick was greatly anticipated in the animal kingdom.
Unfortunately, Paul The Human's picks for human sporting events have been far less successful. He is down more than $10,000 to his bookie despite selling many of his belongings. He is also behind on his rent and will be evicted at the end of the month if he still can't pay.
Paul The Human's story is very similar to that of Paul The Octopus, the German aquarium cephalopod who successfully picked World Cup soccer winners last summer. In October Paul The Octopus was killed by gambling associates he was into for more than $200,000 on horse racing and dog fighting losses.
