The Washington Wizards opened the 2009-10 season on a 102-91 run last night against the Dallas Mavericks. Point guard Gilbert Arenas opened the scoring with a free throw 31 seconds into the season and shooting guard Randy Foye capped the run with a free throw 11:58 into the fourth quarter, his 19th point in the flurry. Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle said he was glad with how his team was able to withstand Washington's streak. "You have to be able to keep yourself in the game and we did that by playing them evenly in the first 30 seconds and final two seconds," said Carlisle. "Basketball is a game of runs, we know that, and it's a long season. I get the sense momentum is about to shift our way soon. It will just be in a different game."
