NFL trade deadline possibly today

A rumor going around NFL front offices this afternoon is that the league's trade deadline is today, perhaps even within the hour. "Yeah, I guess it could be. Who knows," said Packers general manager Ted Thompson. "Maybe it was last week. Either way, I don't care." Seahawks general manager Tim Ruskell also isn't sure about the rumor. "Trading?" he said. "In the NFL? Unlikely. This sounds like a bunch of baseless crap." Cleveland Browns general manager George Kokinis said he has made several calls to other GMs asking if they are interested in acquiring quarterback Brady Quinn. "They just hang up right away. So my guess is that the deadline must have passed already."
