Rockies Add God To World Series Roster
The National League champion Colorado Rockies set their playoff roster today, and predictably saved a Fall Classic spot for God.
“The Man Upstairs has gotten us this far and it’s time he take his rightful place on our bench,” said Rockies general manager Dan O’Dowd. “We would have kept open three spots for the Holy Trinity the Father, Son and Holy Ghost but we have to make sure we have enough relievers and bench players to get us through a tough seven-game series. Hopefully He or They understand that.”
The Rockies have run their team based on Christian principles in recent years and have given God credit for guiding them through their remarkable late-season run. But manager Clint Hurdle says the team wanted to make a tangible show of their appreciation.
“There are a lot of teams God could help, but He has decided to help us,” said Hurdle. “That is very humbling. We feel He is a real member of our team. As such, we have not only given Him a World Series roster spot, but the players voted Him a full share of playoff money that He can spend any way He pleases.”
Hurdle says he hopes God will show up for the World Series and even play if called upon.
“It would be great to have Him rooting for us right beside us on our bench, shooting lightning bolts into the sky every time we score,” said Hurdle. “I just need to know what He wants on the back of his jersey God, The Creator, His Holiness, what? Let me know and I’ll have our equipment guy make up the jersey. Also, let me know what number You want. I would assume No. 1?”
