“Satan” Headlines Cause Buffalo Minister to Predict “End Times”

The frequency of headlines proclaiming the exploits of Satan in the Buffalo media spurred an area preacher to predict the “end times” would come to upon the world by the end of the year.

The Reverend Joseph Wylie, head pastor at suburban Buffalo’s Grace Ministry Fellowship Church, dedicated his Sunday sermon to warning his congregation of the end of the world and pleading with them to “make their souls right with God.”

“Nearly everywhere we look today there are proclamations of the great deeds of the evil one, Satan,” Wylie said in his message. “On the TV news, in the newspaper, in magazines. I even see adults and young children wearing it on their shirts – marking themselves with the name of the enemy of all humanity! We have surely reached a breaking point, brothers and sisters. The end times are upon us. Repent and turn away from Satan.”

Reverend Wylie’s sermon took many by surprise. “He’s not a sports fan and he distrusts the media so he doesn’t follow the news very closely,” said Mark Thomas, a parishioner. “But, come on – you’ve got to research your sermons a little better than that. He totally lost all credibility with anyone who is a hockey fan. And those who aren’t fans probably had no idea what he was talking about. It was a disgrace.”

Another church member, Molly Richards, said she is debating whether or not to tell Reverend Wylie about his mistake. “I feel embarrassed for him,” she said. “I know he’s fairly new to the community and doesn’t follow sports, but I think he needs to so he doesn’t ruin his ministry. I just don’t know if I have the heart to break it to him.”
