Enraged Canseco Breaks Out of Jail Following Steroids Arrest

A bad dose of steroids likely caused Jose Canseco to turn green, double in size and terrorize Broward County, Florida early this week.

Jose Canseco was jailed on Monday afternoon to await a hearing on whether he violated his probation by testing positive for steroids. Hours later, the former slugger became enraged, turned bright green and doubled in size, breaking out of the Broward County (Florida) Jail to terrorize the surrounding community.
Jose angry, Canseco said repeatedly while stomping through the streets. You make Jose very upset.
Canseco inflicted noticeable damage during his 18-hour violence binge, smashing numerous cars, buildings and helicopters. No injuries were reported, however.
Canseco said he was most upset about being blackballed from baseball, despite needing only 38 home runs to reach the 500 mark. People in baseball no want Jose to be in Hall of Fame, he said. That get me very mad. I destroy county. Write tell-all book about all the steroids in baseball. Aaarrrrgh.
Canseco was talked down by Broward County Police with the help of his twin brother, Ozzie, and former Oakland As teammate Rickey Henderson.
Rickey told Jose there might be a roster spot open for him on the Newark Bears if he wants it, said Ozzie. Rickey said that playing there could allow Jose to open the eyes of some people in the majors and get a job. That interested Jose and got him to calm down.
Canseco returned to normal size and was brought back into custody by Tuesday afternoon. He is again at the Broward County Jail where he awaits a July 21 hearing. Additional charges are expected to be brought against the former American League MVP due to the millions of dollars of damage he caused throughout Broward County during his rampage.
Broward County Police are pinning Cansecos dramatic transformation into a 15-foot, green monster on his years of steroid abuse. We have been watching him very closely since he was placed on probation and have cut off all his usual outlets for obtaining steroids, said Dale Habbisher, spokesman for Broward County Police. What we saw from Jose on Monday and Tuesday was likely the result of some very low-grade steroids that he got a hold of outside of the normal market. We think he ingested them in the hours before we arrested him, setting of a time bomb. That dosage of bad steroids, combined with his years of abuse, caused the terror we all saw the past two days.
County residents are just starting to get over the shock of seeing baseballs first 40-40 man stomping through their community in a giant size. I was completely terrified, said Marge Hopkins of Davie, Florida. The only thing that was comforting was knowing that inside that huge, green beast was a real man. You knew it was Jose. The hair, the jaw, that nose, those muscles it looked exactly like him. If not for the green skin and the immense height, that monster looked no different than the Jose we see around here every day. I knew he wouldnt completely destroy us.
