Plaxico Burress Accidentally Fires Celebratory Gunshots Into His Leg

Former NFL receiver Plaxico Burress was released from prison on Monday after nearly two years behind bars. But his happy day quickly turned painful when he fired off a few rounds to celebrate, forgetting to aim his gun into the air.

"AAAAHHHH! My leg! My leg! I'm shot again!" Burress screamed just yards outside of the Oneida Correctional Facility in upstate New York, as blood poured out of a wound in his thigh.

Burress, who was picked up from prison by his wife, had asked her to bring a gun he could shoot wildly into the air in celebration of his new-found freedom. But after putting it in his pocket to give her a hug and kiss, her forgot to remove the weapon and aim it into the air before shooting.

"Sonofabitch!" Burress moaned on the ground outside of his wife's car. "When will I learn!"

Unlike the last time he shot himself, it is unlikely Burress risks charges or jail time.

"There are no gun restriction laws in the area he shot himself," said retired Oneida prosecutor Jim Mitchell. "Plus, I'm not sure if accidentally shooting yourself deserves jail time to begin with. Usually the wound itself and accompanying embarrassment is punishment enough. And when you shoot yourself a second time? I'd say all he deserves is pity. Pity and maybe body armor that he should be forced to wear all the time."
