Fox Sports broadcaster Joe Buck told his partner Troy Aikman today that their relationship is over and that he will getting back with Tim McCarver, with whom he has a history.
"People think because you were a football player that you don't have a feelings," said Aikman. "But we do. And this hurts. It hurts a lot."
With the baseball league championships set to begin, Buck will step away from his football duties and serve as the play-by-play announcer on Fox's lead baseball team with McCarver. Aikman doesn't know what he will do.
"I'm lost. Empty," he said. "I guess I'll just wander around, stopping at truck stops, in hopes I can find someone to take away the sadness of losing Joe. I mean, Tim McCarver. Come on! I'm younger, better looking and in better shape."
Buck said Aikman should have known the break up was coming.
"This happens every year," said Buck. "I leave for baseball and then come back. I don't know how he forgets. I guess it's all the concussions."
"Oh, right," said Aikman, when reminded again that Buck will eventually return. "Now I remember. That's really good news. Not because I have feelings for him beyond the booth. Not at all."
