Versus airing marathon marathon

The Versus Network is showing non-stop broadcasts of past New York City marathons this week, a move network executives believe will attract hardcore marathon fans to the channel.“We show some live events like NHL hockey, but unlike an ESPN, we have the scheduling flexibility to air something exciting like this marathon marathon,” said Versus broadcasting chief Mike Coffey. “We’re talking 72 hours in a row of the best marathons of the past 35 years. That will give us enough time to show, like, 14 or 15 different marathons in their entirety. Awesome, huh?”If the marathon marathon is a success, Versus says they will consider launching Versus 2, a channel devoted entirely to marathons and other sports absolutely no one wants to watch.“It would be much like regular Versus,” said Coffey. “Only it wouldn’t have the NHL.”
